| As the PMI Central Indiana Chapter evolves, becoming less like a club and more like a company, the systems that support the chapter must also evolve. The PMPlatform software, which our chapter designs and owns, has become a powerful Enterprise System with three external clients (licensing chapters).
As the PMPlatform committee works to add more clients, and build more functionality into each release, more attention must be paid to repeatable processes and best-practice software methodologies. Each release should be treated with the project management rigor that we, as a project management organization, are capable of delivering.
The Project Lead - Release Management will lead the development of the release function, including the following areas of focus:
- Development of Project Planning documentation for managing a release project, including:
- Project Charter
- Project WBS/Schedule with timeline and resources
- Project request document for BOD approval
- Quote request document for TGFI
- Change request document for BOD approval
- Change request document for TGFI
- Serving as Project Manager
- Actually managing the first release project with these tools and methods
- Gathering Lessons Learned, with which to update the planning documents
- Interfacing with the Project Lead - Training Management to identify areas requiring training for future release project managers
