Event Signup FAQ
Why is everything different when signing up for events on the website?Last fall, we in-sourced the event registration from "EventBrite" and developed our own event registration system. This change allows us to do all kind of cool things like print nametags and record PDUs you have earned, but it has driven some changes in the way you sign up for events. First, you will need to be logged in to register for an event. Second, you need to have your PMICIC.org profile linked to your PMI.org profile to get the member discount. Last, you need to drill-down to a location-specific "child event" to sign up.
Why don't I see the location-specific event listed for my location?
The location-specific "child events" are not listed on the home page. You must click the link for the "main event" on the home page to see the event popup. The popup will list the location-specific "child events" in a list toward the bottom. Click the link for the location-specific "child event" to see the information and "add to cart" buttons for that event.
Why don't I see the "add to cart" button for my event?
First, you need to be logged in to the website to see the "add to cart" button. Next, you need to be drilled-down to a location-specific "child event" (i.e. one that has a site name at the end). For events that do not have child events - like full-day seminars, for example - you will see the "add to cart" buttons on the "main event" popup.
Additionally, registration for events typically closes three days prior to the event so that we can provide counts to the facility. At the point registrations closeIn the case of Monthly Chapter Meetings, you may still attend the event, but you must pay the full Walk-in rate.
I see "add to cart" buttons, but why I don't see the member pricing?
First, you need to be logged in to the site to see member pricing. Next, you must be logged in to a profile that is mapped to the PMI.ORG profile. (You can test this by looking at your profile - click the "Profile" link - and verifying that the PMI Member ID is listed and is correct). Last, you need to be drilled-down to a location-specific "child event".
Why doesn't my profile show my PMI Member ID?
Sometimes, a user will have more than one profile, and the one that you're looking at is not the one synchronized to PMI Global's membership database. This can happen when you use two different email addresses to create your profiles, but just contact webmaster@pmicic.org to get this cleaned up.
The other reason that you might not see a Member ID is that you might not have paid your dues, or paid them at the last minute, so you might have been de-listed as a chapter member (and, therefore, would not be eligible for the Member rates). This will take care of itself once you renew your membership with PMI Global and the renewal is transferred to the chapter, updating your profile.
What can I do to ensure I will not have problems?
Log into your PMICIC.org "Profile" and make sure your profile shows your PMI Member ID. Click an event link on the home page and select your location-specific "child event" on the popup. Make sure you see the appropriate "add to cart" buttons. If you have problems, email webmaster@pmicic.org.
