PMI CIC Board of Directors
Colleen Cullinan, PMP
The Board of Directors is looking for 5 talented, enthusiastic chapter members who are willing to devote 5 to 10 hours a month toward advancing project management in Central Indiana. CIC has 10 directors - 4 serve as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary, 6 serve at large in other roles - Education, Technology, Outreach, Marketing, Programs and Membership. The membership elects the directors and they select the jobs when they organize the new board. Although all 10 directors serve 2 year terms, the terms are staggered, so 5 are elected every year. So in 2006, we need to elect 5 directors to serve the period 2007 through 2008.

PMI CIC Board of Directors
Nick Miller, PMP
PMI-CIC Outreach has now been active for a little over a year. Although we haven’t accomplished everything we set out to, we have done some great things to get started down the right path.
Our initial work on Outreach has been the Ambassador program. This is a program that was created by Kevin Smith, PMP, as a way to introduce project management and PMI to an organization.

Building Up Indy: Saxony Community Development
Kathy McQuiston-O'Dell , PMP
What is 'New Urbanism'? That's the catch phrase to describe the new Saxony Community being developed in the Fishers/Noblesville area by Republic Development Corporation. Located on Interstate 69 at Exit 10, Saxony is a community that will contain a place to live, play, shop and work all within walking distance.
Sean McKinnis, Manager of Construction Services for the company's Commercial Division, is responsible for the overall coordination of the Saxony effort. Sean believes that planning has been a key element of the project, a sentiment that has been echoed by Richard A. Arnos, Republic Development's President. Extensive market research and analysis were done to determine the correct location for such a community within the Indianapolis area. In addition, approximately three (3) years of planning (working with municipalities, zoning commissions, etc.) were necessary before 'breaking ground'. Planning continues to be an ongoing process to ensure strategic location and building design as new tenants are announced.

Fusion Alliance: What is "The Word"?
Kimberle Seale, PMP
"Quality" is the word. But... what is "Quality"? Really. Who defines the word? Is it Webster? One of Webster's many definitions of quality is "character with respect to grade of excellence or fineness". Dictionary.com defines quality as "the character of an estate as determined by the manner in which it is to be held or enjoyed". My eight-year old daughter defined quality (as it relates to quality time) as "special alone time with someone".

Project Seminars: Real World Project Management - Creating the Project Scope
Joseph Phillips, PMP, IT Project+
Do you like the smell of freshly cut grass? I do. To me, there's something fantastic about the smell of gasoline, cut grass, and piles of steamy mulch. It brings back teenage memories of mowing acre after acre of neighborhood lawns, mulching shrubs, and sweating for a few bucks. Of course, I'd invest my lawn-mowing monies into safe ventures such as firecrackers, baseball cards, and matinees.
