2008 Vol. 1 The Quarterly Newsletter of the PMI Central Indiana Chapter May 10

Our Sponsors’ Spotlight
Fusion Alliance
Tom Nash, Director of Sponsorship

In the spotlight for the PMICIC this month is Fusion Alliance. They are an active and long time sponsor for the Central Indiana Chapter. Without them, and our many other accomplished sponsors like them, this chapter could not continue its mission to advance the field of project management in industry, government, educational institutions and other organizations. The PMICIC wants to foster educational and professional opportunities to enhance the growth of project management in Central Indiana and we feel our sponsors are a big part of that growth.
Founded in 1994, Fusion Alliance employs more than 220 people in its offices in Indianapolis, Indiana and Cincinnati, Ohio. Fusion is a business solutions leader that specializes in helping clients to realize their business goals through the integration and implementation of technology-based solutions. Wrapped around each solution is the Fusion Catalyst process framework - a systematic and repeatable approach to solution delivery that ensures on-time, on-budget project execution and ultimately, customer satisfaction. This process framework, coupled with our proactive approach to quality and project management, makes up the recipe for successful solution delivery, every time.

A recent Fusion engagement was with a Fortune 100 Property and Casualty insurer. It was a very large project with over 100 people at its peak representing more than 100,000 hours during its 14 month deployment. The primary goal was to enhance the underwriting pricing model and meet the speed-to-market business objectives of the client.

The solution involved development of a new automated rating service, and its integration within the existing systems architecture. The project schedule was very aggressive as the project was critical to the company's business strategy. Scheduling risks included assumptions about new technologies; dependencies on a variety of third party providers and Regulatory Agencies; and monitoring/controlling many parallel near-critical activities. Project communication was challenging given the size and pace of the project. Quality was of extreme importance given the scope and tolerance of the requirements.

Despite the challenges and complexity of the solution the project was completed on time and on budget. The enhanced system was implemented in December 2007. Results-to-date and feed-back from independent agents have been excellent.

Fusion Alliance is using project management tools to help businesses be all that they can be in Central Indiana and beyond. Everyone benefits from better business, be a part of the solution and a better Indiana, and be a part of the Central Indiana Chapter of PMI.
