Election Details

Colleen Cullinan is a manager at Praxis Learning Networks. Her IT experience spans over 25 years in diverse industries, including banking, mining, aviation, manufacturing and consulting. She has spent over 10 years in project management, specializing in IT projects and project risk management. She is an active member of the Central Indiana Chapter of the Project Management Institute, having served on the Board of Directors since 2005.

The Board of Directors is looking for 5 talented, enthusiastic chapter members who are willing to devote 5 to 10 hours a month toward advancing project management in Central Indiana. CIC has 10 directors - 4 serve as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary, 6 serve at large in other roles - Education, Technology, Out Reach, Marketing, Programs and Membership. The membership elects the directors and they select the jobs when they organize the new board. Although all 10 directors serve 2 year terms, the terms are staggered, so 5 are elected every year. So in 2006, we need to elect 5 directors to serve the period 2007 through 2008.

What qualifications are needed to serve on the Board?

  1. You must be a member in good standing, both of PMI and of PMICIC.
  2. You must commit to attend 75% of the monthly Board meetings, held the first Monday of the month.
  3. You must have at least 5 hours a month to devote to your CIC job.
  4. You do not need to be PMP certified.
  5. You may not be a member of the nominating committee.

What do you need to do to get on the ballot?

  1. Submit a 1 paragraph biography and description of why you want to be on the Board (300 words) to Secretary@pmicic.org by August 17th, 2006.
    1. This will be published on the CIC website, in order received.
    2. This will also be printed and placed on the tables at the September 2006 meeting.
    3. IMPORTANT NOTE - no other handouts will be permitted at the September meeting. Please don't bring your own handouts to the meeting. It will disqualify you from the election.
  2. Prepare a SHORT 3 minute 'campaign speech' you'll have an opportunity to speak at the September meeting before the election.

What are the important dates for the 2006 election?

  • August 17, 2006 - last day to send in your biography information to Colleen Cullinan.
  • August 15, 2006 - last day to clear any membership problems with National
  • September 15, 2006 - 3 minute campaign speeches and election
  • January 1, 2007 - New Board members assume their responsibilities

Who can I talk to about Board responsibilities?

  • You can ask any of the current Board members (names and contact information are on the Board of Directors page)

I'm not interested in running for the Board, is there anything else I can do?

  • Join the nominating committee. Help talk to prospective candidates and count ballots. Email Colleen Cullinan at secretary@pmicic.org to volunteer for the committee.
