2006 Vol. 1 The Quarterly Newsletter of the PMI Central Indiana Chapter March 31

PMI CIC Board of Directors
A Letter From the President
Tim Quigley, PMP

Tim Quigley has been a member of the Central Indiana Chapter of PMI since 1996 and is currently serving as President for 2006. In 1997 Tim earned his Masters Degree in Project Management from ITT Technical Institute, being a member of the first masters degree class to be offered in Indiana. Tim previously served on the PMICIC Board of Directors for six years in the capacity of Vice President Publicity, Treasurer, and two consecutive years as President and Immediate Past President.

My name is Tim Quigley, and I would like to welcome you to our newsletter, and to the Central Indiana Chapter of the Project Management Institute. As President of the chapter for 2006, this also marks my tenth year as a member of PMI. It's exciting to think that ten years ago our Central Indiana Chapter had approximately 75 members, compared to over 1200 today. Our chapter continues to experience excellent membership growth and participation.

2005 ended on a very good note.

  • We continued to maintain an average attendance at monthly chapter meetings of over 100 attendees.
  • The Education Committee continued to provide excellent opportunities for members to practice and expand their project management skillsets.
  • Seminars were provided over the course of the year, with our Professional Development Day exceeding all expectations with a very successful vendor representation.
  • Updates to our website continue, enhancing functionality and value for the membership.

2006 is already on track to be a very positive year for both PMP's and those interested in project management.

  • Planning has been underway for several months for this years Professional Development Day in October.
  • Several seminars and speaking engagements are in the works and listed on the pmicic.org website.
  • The Central Indiana Chapter is hosting this years Region Two conference in Indianapolis for those Chapters of PMI in our region. The conference is offered twice a year, and allows an opportunity for other chapters to come together to share their experiences and insight into how to make their respective chapters more effective for their membership and the project management community. This provides an excellent opportunity for the PMICIC leadership to interact with other chapters and representatives from PMI National.
  • 2006 will bring numerous opportunities for all members to expand their project management toolsets, and to become more active within the Central Indiana Chapter. Check the website for volunteer activities. Remember that PMP's have the potential to earn PDU credits by volunteering with their local chapter.
  • We have already implemented changes that have lowered meeting costs.
  • Chapter advertising and sponsorship related activities have also been updated to encourage more participation in our meetings and on our website.

I am looking forward to a very exciting and rewarding year for the chapter. It's my pleasure to invite you to participate to your fullest.

I also invite you to provide your feedback related to our chapter events to the chapter's Board of Directors. We appreciate your support.

Sincerely;
Timothy [Tim] M. Quigley, PMP
