About the position
Title IT Project Manager
 
Location Indianapolis
 
Job Summary Liberty Mutual Information Systems is actively searching for an experienced IT Project Manager. In this role you will oversee the planning and implementation of Information Systems projects. Projects will pertain to the delivery of timely, quality IT services and/or relate to improving business effectiveness or efficiency.

Responsibilities Oversees the planning and implementation of the Claims monthly production support release and discretionary projects with a defined beginning and end.
Leads and directs a production support team supporting operational critical applications.
Reviews, evaluates, formulates and executes project plans, schedules and budgets.
Allocates staff and budget resources to meet changing corporate needs.
Identifies and negotiates schedules, milestones and resources required to meet project objectives.
Organizes and guides project operations through the use of methodologies accepted by the industry.
Evaluates and reports progress in terms of quality and performance metrics common to IT projects.
Modifies schedules as required.
May provide input into staff performance evaluations and objectives.
Works with client departments to coordinate systems testing, installation, training and support.
Keeps informed of advances in IT
Functions independently with limited supervision from a Manager or Director.
 
Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 6-8 or more years related experience as a project team member of which at least 5 years have been in a leadership position, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Able to manage multiple large projects, simultaneously, from inception to successful implementation.
Able to foster working relationships with the team and client departments to create joint project plans.
Thorough knowledge of business functions and extensive understanding of business operations, strategies, and objectives.
Desire background with insurance and claims experience.
Thorough knowledge of project management life cycle, methodologies (including Waterfall, Rupp and Agile), and support tools (e.g. MS Project, ABT, Peregrine, etc).
Able to manage within complex project budgeting process with emphasis on planning and forecasting
Thorough knowledge of project management concepts, practices, and techniques (Project Management certification preferred)
